8 Monkey Mind and a Path to Depression

Monkey Mind is the stream of Thoughts flowing between the Subconscious Mind and the Conscious Mind and back again. Thoughts are unprocessed or not understood information and experiences from the Conscious Mind sent to the Subconscious Mind for storage and processing at a later time. The Subconscious will then send these Thoughts back to the Conscious Mind for processing. If the Conscious Mind still doesn’t understand the thought or just ignores it the Subconscious Mind will keep throwing the same Thoughts at the Conscious Mind again and again and again and again until they are dealt with by the Conscious Mind, understood, formatted and sent to the Superconscious Mind.

There may come a point in time where there are to many Thoughts to deal with. A normal first response is to try to suppress the Thoughts. This may be by way of distraction, yoga, meditation, drugs etc. This temporary relief may then be taken on step further, a Partial Shutdown of the Conscious Mind. This involves reducing external sensory inputs such as isolation as well as shutting down communication with the Subconscious Mind. Depression is a partial shutdown of the Conscious Mind.

When Monkey Mind becomes a problem, it maybe of note that most of the repetitive Thoughts that may be popping up for many years and thousands of times may stem from one or two Rules – Behaviours – Reactions. Identify then understand your Rules – Behaviours – Reactions.
